I am so excited to lead the HBC Science Lab this year! I studied Science at Maranatha Baptist University, and have taught in christian schools or online for the past 5 years. I love teaching, and cannot wait to get back in the classroom! This year we will be focusing both elementary and secondary labs on life science/biology. My goal for the year is that students will learn about God’s creation of LIFE through guided discovery and hands-on activities. Based on the topic at hand, there may be some lecture before/during the lab activity, but we will devote the majority of our time together to hands-on labs. Throughout the year we will be doing some fun activities, such as building insect traps, doing plant dissections, learning how our bodies burn calories through exercise, and even how radiation affects seedlings! I know that science labs can be intimidating for many homeschooling parents, so I hope to come alongside you as a parent and educator to fill the gap and give your child some hands-on experience he or she may not otherwise get to experience. My prayer is that your child will get to discover some of the amazing things God has designed in the world around us, and bask in awe of His greatness!
